Possibly the best cultural thing about Los Angeles: the legacy of Venice artists of the 1970’s. And there are few left.
Which is why you owe it to yourself to see Chuck Arnoldi’s “String Theory” paintings created between 2016 and 2019 at the
Michael Kohn Gallery. The abstract pictures resemble physics charts or answers to math problems or even musical charts – they’re derived from the
2011’s book Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, about the human capacity to energize thought via imagination. Arnolid’s “strings” are all somehow
connected: complex and simple, human and abstract, all at the same time.
