Step into Merle’s Closet for an insider’s view of the inner world of L.A. style.
It isn’t just the work of major artists that’s visually colorful. When art people gather for a major museum gala like they did for the 2026 MOCA Gala this L.A. weekend, not only is what they choose to wear vivid, but it’s expressionist in that they wear their inner lives on their shoulders. Aside from honoring major artist like Paul McCarthy and Kara Walker and art collector Eugenio Lopez Alonso – and raising 3 million for LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art – attendees ran the gamut from major art people (Alexandra Grant, Jeffrey Deitch)) to fashion designers (Libertine’s Johnson Hartig, Rosetta Getty to all around creatives like Stephen Galloway, Ava DuVernay, Rufus Wainwright, Michael Chow, and of course, Keanu Reeves accompanying Alex Grant. Of course, the eclectic looks spanned such art influenced designers as Comme des Garcons, Rodarte, Dries van Noten, Libertine and Cult Gaia – in a large range of hues, shapes and textures.
