When the annual Frieze art fair gets to town late February, the town comes alive with the sound of art buzz – even at the apex of awards season. The Hollywood Reporter even gets into the act: the annual Oscar issue, out February 26, features artists’ Oscar cover renderings, curated by art writer Michael Slenske, for the second year. Slenske also curated its subsequent
gallery show at Laurie Firstenberg’s AF Projects on Sunset. No coincidence it coincided with Frieze’s three day art (and fashion) fest at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar – both drew the eyes of Angeleno’s always hungry for culture and fashion free for alls. The two go together – like Vermeer and pearls.
