PICKWICK | AUGUST 2025 | THE ROW

I thought on a boiling hot August day in downtown LA the habitues of Pickwick would be all midriffs, cut offs, bra tops, open backs and daisy dukes. But I was happily wrong about most of that. Sure, I saw lot of backs, stomach muscles (some without them), but that’s about it on the reveal front. Both vendors and shoppers still turned it out, putting their best vintage sunnies (Gucci, Dior, etc) to the test – they passed with flying colors. If you’re looking for unique multi color oversized 60’s/70’s style glasses, this is the place. Some great rare catches this time:a baggy tweedy Krizia suit for $328, a very rare Gaultier mesh print cardigan with scarf attached, $375 (it’s a grand on the online vintage sites), a pale pink Moschino blazer for $328. (Is someone coordinating these prices?) Talk about wearing shades: the present’s so bright, you couldn’t do without them: everywhere, pattern, color, riotous riches to wake one up from a long summer slumber. Will they still love that in September, when the palette shifts? Pickwick makes its own fashion rules. That’s why we love it.
