L.A.’s most exclusive eyewear designer Jacque Marie Mage has a shop on Sycamore where Elton John and Jeff Goldblum buy their glasses – right out in the open, not hiding in some private VIP room. That’s because the whole store is like a private VIP room: each thick framed pair is from an exclusive set – JMM, real name Jerome Maje, never repeats himself.

While the prices are indeed prohibitive – don’t show up unless you’re prepared to drop coin – the compliments are prolific. JMM does not sell to stores except for two: Berdgorfs and Maxfield. His fourth collab with Maxfield was celebrated last week – its fourth – this one for a style called “The Evans.” SOOOOO old Hollywood – being named for the late Paramount producer who made The Godfather, Love Story and many other classics – but he was equally famed for his black rectangular buffalo horn frames.
